James Vincent McMorrow: Red Dust Single and Video.

14 Jan

James Vincent McMorrow is on the cusp of releasing his second album ‘Post Tropical’. From anything I’ve seen and heard so far it will be a return of the haunting falsetto vocals and emotive lyrics that served him so well on his debut. This time it seems he has delved slightly into influeneces from R’n’B with effected electronic beats a feature underneath some of the songs. I saw him support Rhob Cunningham live last year. It was a chance to debut some of his new songs live with a smaller unsuspecting audience. It was then that I heard the growth and experimentation in the sound of James’s second album.

The first video from his new album has been released and its a short-film style release. With a lead female character having an identity crisis with dark and desperate moments throughout, aided by the haunting sadness that James Vincent McMorrow has made his own. The tension builds in time with the video including some slightly NSFW shots.

If you haven’t got tickets to his Dublin shows at The National Concert Hall then you might be too late but tickets for other Irish shows are still available.
