Rhob Cunningham is a staple of Irish music for a few years now, although plenty of people probably don’t know him directly. He has recently returned from recording his debut solo album in Iceland with Valgier Sigurdsson of Feist, Bonnie Prince Billy & Bjork fame. Having already released a stand up album a few years back under the band name Our Little Secrets the next batch of songs are set to be released under his own. In advance of this release and some up-coming shows Rhob has released Rejects an aptly titled E.P of songs that didn’t make the cut on the album or are still growing into themselves.

A particular favorite song off the E.P is Sore Boy which is a real short blast of up-tempo folk/blues. Below is fantastic video of it live in Dublin by Cock and Bull Tv. This really shows the energy in the song perfectly.

Catch Rhob live in the Sugar Club, Dublin Thursday the 27th June.

On a side note to the music the E.P. cover is art-work by Adrien Merigeau, and it is beautiful fits the E.P perfectly as the style carries a kind of UN-finished or ever-changing feeling as you look at it but at the same time it looks highly crafted. Suited perfectly to an E.P of songs that sound beautiful but are still in a state of flux and may grow into more finished products over time.
