Two Great Gigs Tonight. The Statics. Hey Rosetta.

9 Nov

Tonight the musical gods are being amazingly kind. There is not one but two gigs on tonight that are set to be amazing and the best bit is you should be able to make both of them. This never happens when gigs clash normally you have to make an agonizing decision between the two.

So tonight is special and the first reason is because one the bands Ive regularly featured on this blog are launching their debut single upstairs at Whelans doors 8pm support from Re-Soul €8 and you get a free copy of the single.

The Statics: Holiday

This is the debut single from one of the best live bands in the Dublin at the moment, doors are 8pm and this is guaranteed to get your night off to a good start with the Statics delivering their upbeat brand of Garage and 50’s/60’s inspired indie rock. Think the Coral and Franz Ferdinand with a 50’s vibe thrown in for good measure. Full of stomping drums driving guitar riffs and harmonies. Check out previous gig reviews for this band here.

So after The Statics have got your night off to a flying start its time to make a run all the way to the Academy 2 on Middle Abbey St for the 11pm Doors of our next show.

Hey Rosetta are playing in the Academy 2 doors 11pm and only €5 and amazingly its a late billing so you can catch two of the best shows in Dublin in one night. Hey Rosetta hail from Newfoundland off the coast of of Canada just a stones throw across the Atlantic from us. They played in the Sugar Club back in April and put on one of the shows of my year. Check out the review here.

Hey Rosetta: Red Heart

Hey Rosetta bring a huge uplifting rock sound that can be both big enough to fill a stadium and intimate enough for the tiniest of venues and sometimes in the same song.
The addition of a cello and violin in the musical set up offers something special along with the energy and effort delivered by the band throughout their shows. If you have the chance to catch this gig do not miss it.

Hey Rosetta: Yer Spring

So there you have it Dublin, Friday night and two amazing gigs that are not clashing the possibility’s are endless.
So if you’re ever going to miss the Late Late Show tonight is that night.
