Knoxville Morning, beautiful Irish music.

18 Oct

Knoxville Morning is a collective based around the fantastic songwriting of Ciaran Dwyer (Band on an Island), Knoxville Morning a solo project full of collaborations based on songs written by the man himself on a road trip from New York to LA with three of his mates. The album has been coming for two years and finally released on October 12. Now I missed some of the recent gigs and will have to try make it to one but couldn’t wait to write something about it. He’s another part of the strong music scene in Newbridge Co.Kildare which seems to be getting better and better over the years. I first heard their music after seeing them lined up to play a Barrygruff presents gig in June, always a good source for new music from the Newbridge based blogger.

Knoxville Morning: Lighthouse Song

The music I’ve heard so far online is just beautiful, the songwriting is full of honesty personality, stories and life. It hits exactly what I look for in a song, I believe whats been written and sung so it makes it so much easier to connect with. It would be easy to write songs you think people will like, stick to formula’s pushed up the charts everyday and write simple song that doesn’t risk alienating any audience. Ciaran Dwyer writes music that’s true to himself and it comes across in every word. In my opinion it’s what makes truly great music that can connect with an audience far beyond a superficial level.
If you like music in the vein of Planxty, Mark Geary, Mick Flannery and Villagers then look no further than Knoxville Morning. Now if Only I could find a way to get my hands on the album itself Id be a very happy man.
